Policy validation

If you are asked to supply evidence of your driving licence or proof of no claims entitlement, it is important that you send them within 21 days of the start of your policy.

Failure to provide the information requested, may result in the cancellation of your policy and the charges shown in our Terms of Business will then apply.

Please note that we use insurance industry databases to verify the information you provide and will contact you should we find any discrepancies.

Document checklist

We need the following information from you:

  • Policy number
  • Policy renewal date
  • Vehicle registration number and year
  • UK No Claims Bonus (if applicable)
  • Number of years no claims bonus (if applicable)
  • A licence check code and the last 8 digits of your driving licence number

We accept the following forms of No Claims Bonus proof:

Motor Insurance Renewal Notice

When your insurance expires, you will receive a renewal invitation pack from your previous insurer, which includes information such as policy renewal date, policy number, registration number, NCD entitlement and claim Information.

Your NCD / Old Certificate

We can’t accept your Certificate of Motor Insurance from your previous insurer. Unfortunately this doesn’t have the details we need.

  • Name and address of policyholder
  • Policyholders date of birth
  • Policy number or reference number
  • Insurance Company name
  • Registration of your vehicle when you were previously insured
  • Tel No. of insurance company
  • Expiry date of Policy

Your Licence and Driving Record

How to send your driving licence and record if you hold a UK photocard licence (This applies to ALL drivers).

You will need to visit https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to download, print or save your driving licence record, which you will then need to send to us by email or in the post. You will need your Driving Licence Number, National Insurance Number and Postcode.

On entering the site, click on the green “view now” button, enter in your information and then click view now. You should see four tabs at the top of the page. Click on the one titled Share your licence information, then click Get code. All you have to do now is click View, Print and Save your Licence.

Once you have done this, please email, fax or post this to us.

If you do not have access to the internet, then you can contact the DVLA on 0300 790 6801 to obtain a check code that you must provide to us within 24hrs to enable us to validate your driving record. Check codes are only valid for 72 hours. If we cannot access your details in this timescale, another check code will be requested. Alternatively you can obtain a copy of your driving record by writing to the DVLA enclosing a cheque or postal order for £5 made payable to “DVLA Swansea”.

If you hold a European or International Driving Licence (this applies to ALL drivers)

Please scan your licence and email or post it to us at the above address. Plastic Card Driving Licence (Both Sides) or the Counterpart section. Your address on your licence should be the same as the one on record. Otherwise you will have to update your address on your driving licence with the DVLA.
